Downtown Bloomington, IL - J-Bo's Handbags
This window for J-Bo's Handbags & Accessories is particularly unique because if I understood all the signs right, this building or store has more than one business in it. There was a sign on the door for Wild Style Design Company, J-Bo's Handbags, and the other sign on the window for K. Leigh's Body Art. It was a bit confusing at first glance, but I made an educated guess that this window is for J-Bo's Handbags because the emphasis in this window are the many different handbags. For the building itself, I love where the window is placed- in this dome shaped window and ceiling! I think it really helps give this smaller window depth and height in terms of proportion. With that being said, there isn't much going on in the top portion of the window. I wish they would have put a taller mannequin in the display, but then again if they are just a handbag and accessories store, how can they dress a mannequin with their products? ;) What is included in the top portion of the window are fun, crafty leaf cutouts. I love this little addition of decoration, especially because it goes so well with their color scheme of handbags and accessories in the window. The colors of dark red, brown, and mustard yellow fit perfectly for the fall season! I think it was also an excellent idea to use different sized boxes to display their products on. You can see all the products clearly, and it makes the window more visually pleasing to have varying heights. While I wish they would have added something more to the top (maybe more leaves that then filter out to a few gradually coming down the window?), I think the rest of their window has great balance with the varying heights of the boxes and smaller dress form. The handbags are the main focus of the window, and they used the contrast of the bright white boxes to showcase the richer, deeper colors of their handbags perfectly! This was probably one of my favorite windows I found in downtown Bloomington, both technically and because of the way it made me feel. The window gives me this warm, inviting, homey feel, and the fall theme and trends are right on point!
